Authentic Ethiopian
This is a small restaurant located across from The Orleans and buried between a gas station and the Home Depot back entrance. Not the highest rent district, but it is safe. The food is authentic and prepared by some really, really nice folks who are there when you need them, but leave you to your meal. In Ethiopia meals are about community and not dine and dash so they assume your socializing and taking your time....it is not a rushed experience. And you eat with your hands (but you can get silverware) which is customary for this great food. We go often and love the food and people there who own and operate this locals gem.
Be the first to ReplyNow a Hookah Lounge - 3 Thumbs down
Well, what used to be a good Ethiopian restaurant is now a Hookah Lounge. Apparently they still serve food. But there are no regular tables, just a bunch of leather couches with coffee tables. And it is super dark and creepy. Walked in and walked right out. Not going to waste my time with this place anymore.

Ok, so I canโt exactly recall the details in terms of what it was called that we ate, but I can assure you this: it was very interesting and very tasty. You MUST eat there and experience the Ethiopian culture through their unique cuisine. The staff is ultra friendly and very personable. The food is like nothing youโve ever had before. So go there eat there. You will like it!

My first time at an Ethiopian restaurant. We were hesitant on what all to order and the wait person suggested the meat and veggie platter and it was fantastic. There wasn't a meat or vegetable we didn't love, and the portion was plenty for two. I even asked for a utensil and they smiled and said "of course". I will go there again when we visit the area.

Very pleasant servers and staff. Food was delicious. As with most Ethiopian restaurants in Vegas itโs not fancy, but itโs authentic. Will be back.
Be the first to ReplyNice Introduction to Ethiopian
My friends had never had Ethiopian and it is my favorite ethnic food so glad this was in walking distance from the Orleans and our Lyft driver recommended it. The best Ethiopian restaurants always seem to be off the beaten track and a hole in the wall. This one is no different but in a strip mall. Very good service and we were the only guests, but this did not mean our assortment on the sampler platter wasnโt good. It had a great variety of tastes from meat to lentils. I would have preferred it spicer, and they did not ask for a heat level, but it was just right for my boyfriend.

Superior quality Ethiopian food. Spinach is quite fresh and tasty. Good sized portions and friendly wait staff.
Be the first to ReplyGreat Ethiopian cultural meal experience
After movie night we looked for a dinner place, so I checked my bookmarks of new places we have been wanting to try and saw that Abyssinia was only .2 miles away! Sorted We walked in and there were only a couple of tables filled. We sat and perused the menu. The last time we had Ethiopian food was a few years ago in Amsterdam. We decided on the veggie and meat platter. A unique dining experience where you eat with a soft spongy flat bread instead of silverware. The food was served on a huge platter which included veggies with something sour, sweet, savory and bland. The contrast of flavors was enticing. The meats included chicken with a delicious sauce, beef and lamb. Again some of sauces were spicy, savory and marinated with interesting spices. You rip a piece of the spongy bread and grab from the piles of food on the platter. Thank you Abyssinia for a nice cultural experience.

As I walked through the door with my family we walked into Africa. The staff smiled and talked us through everything. The food is the bomb. Injera soaked in sauce, meat and vegetables, it's always going to be a good time. If you're gambling in Sin City, take a safe bet and come to Abyssinia xx
Be the first to ReplyGreat Authentic Ethopian Cuisine!
My husband an I had been craving for Ethopian food when we moved from Sacramento to Nevada and searching the net we found this place located just west of the Orleans Casino in a little strip mall in Vegas. So when we were there recently, we decided to drop by and had dinner. The menu was more extensive than I'm used to seeing on Ethiopian menus, so that was nice. We ended up ordering their combi speciality which had a great selection of vegetables gabanzo beans beef chicken and lamb and it came with a basket of Injera Bread. The food was tasty but it was just a bit too much as we had to leave some leftovers. Service was spotty even though the place was quiet on a weekday. Prices are reasonable and we will definitely be back!
